The California Ground Transportation Regulatory Group (CGTRG) regularly meets with state and local officials, including airport officials, on behalf of California chauffeured operators. On the heels of its successful March meeting, where it honored longtime industry leader Cheryl Berkman of Music Express with the first ever Distinguished Industry Icon Award, the association shared the following updates from Los Angeles International Airport (LAX) and San Francisco International Airport (SFO).
Los Angeles International Airport
LAX Operating Permit Required: All TCP operators will be required to hold a valid LAX operating permit for both passenger pick-ups and drop-offs once the Automated People Mover (APM) becomes operational to the general public.
APM Timeline: The Automated People Mover (APM) is currently expected to open following the FIFA World Cup (timeline subject to change).
Updated Trip Fees: A $12 fee per trip will be assessed for both pickups and drop-offs at LAX.
Enforcement Measures: Chauffeured transportation operators without a valid LAX decal and transponder will be subject to citation. Enforcement will be actively conducted by LAX Airport officials.
Action Required: Operators who do not currently hold a valid LAX operating permit are strongly encouraged to begin the application process immediately to ensure compliance.
San Francisco International Airport
