The Illinois Limousine Association (ILA) held its board of directors meeting via teleconference July 15. The meeting began with a swearing-in ceremony for its new officers, who include: Tracy Hodge-Raimer of Your Private Limousine serving as president, a position she has previously held; Greg Eggan of OML Worldwide Transportation being appointed as vice president; and Paula DeBiasi of Chicago Coachworks accepting the position of secretary-treasurer. Chauffeur Driven Publisher Chris Weiss was also elected to the ILA board of directors.
Once the board business was concluded, the conversation inevitably turned to the prominent issue on the table: Uber and other rideshares. ILA members recently sent a letter to Illinois Governor Pat Quinn asking him to veto a bill that aims to regulate ridesharing services like Uber. Twenty-two of the association’s 63 members signed the letter, expressing their nearly unanimous displeasure with a bill they believe is not strong enough.
Before the teleconference concluded, the board’s special vote ended with its consent to participate in The Chauffeur Driven Show this November, where the association will have a booth on the show floor (in Association Pavilion). There will be an open board teleconference for all ILA members to join on August 20 at 1 p.m.

South Bend, Ind.—Mobility Ventures, an AM General company, is breaking new barriers with the launch of the MV-1 LX, the first luxury vehicle in the United States designed and built exclusively for people with disabilities.
The MV-1 LX has broad appeal for both individual consumers as well as the taxicab and limousine transportation industries. With plush leather seats, wood grain trim, and a full digital navigation package, the LX is built for customers seeking an upgraded experience beyond the advanced features already built into the MV-1 line. The MV-1 LX offers users a push-button power remote door that opens and then automatically deploys a side-entry ramp, which provides complete independence and easy and safe accessibility for its users.
The MV-1 line of vehicles are the only American-made vehicles “purpose-built” for people with disabilities, specifically designed from the ground up to meet or exceed passenger needs and the guidelines of the Americans with Disabilities Act. The vehicle is built at the Mishawaka, Indiana plant, and it meets all FMVSS and Canadian Motor Vehicle Safety Standards (CMVSS) without exceptions or exemptions for crash-worthiness.
Under the hood, the MV-1 LX is powered by a 4.6 liter V-8 Ford engine, a powertrain that has been the bedrock of performance and reliability across private and commercial vehicle platforms. MV-1 may also be ordered with a factory installed CNG fuel option.
“This is a distinctive, well-appointed luxury car that we’re exceptionally proud to bring to the market,” says Rick Smith, president of Mobility Ventures. “The MV-1 fills a significant void in consumer, government, and transportation fleet markets while providing unsurpassed accessibility, safety, and comfort for its passengers.”
