The holiday season is upon us. And to celebrate that most wonderful time of the year, the Philadelphia Regional Limousine Association (PRLA) held its annual membership meeting/holiday dinner at Maggiano’s (King of Prussia) on November 30. A packed house of more than 40 members and guests were in attendance, including Chauffeur Driven Editor Rob Smentek. Special thanks to longtime PRLA supporter Fred Beans Dealerships for sponsoring the event.

Kicking things off with a multi-course Italian meal, the meeting gave members new and old the opportunity to reconnect after several months. Following the dinner, PRLA President Johnny Donohoe of Sterling Limousine addressed the attendees, thanking them for coming and expressing enthusiasm at the number of new members. After introducing the PRLA Board, Chris Burns of Fred Beans spoke briefly, confirming his company’s commitment to the association—and industry—and sharing that the dealership currently has a sizeable inventory in stock, including the sought-after Chevy Suburban and Ford Navigator.

“It’s wonderful to see a full house this evening,” said PRLA Secretary Tracy Salinger of Unique Limousine, before providing a short refresher on the insurance requirements for farm-out work in the Philadelphia region. Salinger, who also serves on CD’s Advisory Board, gave a recap on the recently held CD/NLA Show in National Harbor. She highlighted some of the more popular educational sessions, and raved about the networking opportunities. Salinger encouraged those who were unable to attend to download the free show app in order to access the PowerPoint slides to get a taste of the education that was offered.

PRLA Treasurer Bob Euler of King Limousine next provided a financial report, and gave an update on the new waiting zones at the Philadelphia International Airport.
As the new year approaches, Donohoe disclosed plans for the PRLA to be more structured in 2023, with quarterly in-person meetings and a What’s App for the membership that will allow the group to quickly find vetted affiliates.

The Routing Company (TRC), a global on-demand vehicle routing and management platform partnering with cities to power the future of public transit, announced its latest launch, Pingo Campus—a new product within the Ride Pingo app that is optimized for campus use and designed for the unique needs of campus transport. The TNC app offers riders on-demand, flex, fixed, and paratransit options.

The release has already attracted transportation companies like RMA Worldwide (RMA), the transit service provider for Richmond-based Virginia Commonwealth University (VCU), which signed a two-year contract with the platform. The contract includes 15 vehicles and marks North America’s first university deployment of TRC’s new Pingo Campus product. Service begins December 2022.
RMA will use the Pingo platform to provide VCU’s on-campus transportation for its community of more than 50,000 students, faculty, and staff, including a safe ride on-demand evening service and a fixed-route shuttle service.
“Pingo Campus is a custom version of our app designed for the unique needs of academic and corporate campus transport—making it an ideal product for VCU,” said TRC CEO James Cox. “It harnesses the power of our proven Pingo platform while meeting the rigorous demands of university transportation, including greater flexibility and enhanced user security. Together with RMA, we are improving the VCU rider experience on campus.”
Pingo Campus contains the same user interface while integrating settings and constraints optimized for university and corporate campuses. This includes greater fixed and flex route options, the inclusion of Transit Connect to link riders to core mobility hubs, and heightened security features that meet rigorous university and corporate account privacy requirements.
Launched in October 2022, Pingo Journey integrates TRC’s real-time routing technology with public transit infrastructure, allowing riders to hail on-demand transit rides and plan multimodal transit journeys all from one app. The feature makes Pingo the world’s only app offering on-demand transit and end-to-end journey planning in one place, and can be used alongside the Transit Connect feature, which guarantees connections for riders to fixed route networks.
“We were looking for a platform that allows students to easily access safe and convenient transportation options from their phones. And at the same time, we needed an app that provides operators with reliable, user-friendly, and real-time software," said Josh Stone, executive director of VCU Parking and Transportation Services. “Today, we are proud to put the power of mobility right in our students’ hands.”

“I would like to congratulate all of the newly elected Board members and thank everyone who ran in the election,” wrote Alexander. “Your dedication and passion for the industry are to be admired, and it is a comfort to know that there are so many qualified people ready and willing to roll up their sleeves and get involved. It takes courage to step up to the task, win or lose (and I speak from experience, having lost my first Board election). Try, try again ... this is not the end of the road!”

Alexander went on to say that running for the NLA Board is an important step of commitment to serve and improve our industry.
“There are many ways for all members to get involved, whether it be serving on a committee, participating in show events, etc. I urge those who did not see success in this year's election to consider running again and to also find other ways to contribute, make a difference, and hopefully inspire others to run as well,” he said.
