The International Association of Transportation Regulators (IATR)’s Safety Committee is sponsoring an information session called COVID-19 Vaccine Safety & Priority. The session will be held on March 10 at 1:00 p.m. ET via Zoom, and registration is required.
The session features speaker Dr. David Weissman, Director of the Respiratory Health Division at the National Institute for Occupational Safety and Health (NIOSH), with moderators IATR President Matt Daus and Committee Chair Dr. Cammie Chaumont Menendez.
Vaccinations are underway in all 50 states, and with three approved vaccines now circulating, many people have questions. This presentation aims to provide a brief overview of the available vaccines, including their safety and efficacy. It will also address topics such as prioritization of groups including essential workers for vaccination while supply remains insufficient to meet demand and approaches to building confidence and increasing vaccine uptake. Finally, it will introduce CDC materials that can help in communicating about COVID-19 vaccination.
For government officials from around the United States and the world who license and regulate for-hire passenger ground transportation businesses and drivers, this informational session will provide regulators with official public health guidance and medical knowledge and science relating to the vaccines and vaccine prioritization to their licensed industry businesses and drivers. The presentation will be of value to anyone who works in the ground transportation industry.
