TTA

The Transportation Alliance (TTA) has announced that Dan Reid, president of Grove Transit in Mississippi and Go Ride in Louisiana, has been elected as the association’s new president. He succeeds Bill Yuhnke of Liberty Yellow Cab of Buffalo, N.Y. The transition took place during the association’s 106th Convention & Expo—Mobilize 2024—in Dallas this past week.

According to a press release from the association, Reid has dedicated himself as a small business owner to serving his community by ensuring that everyone has access to affordable, high-quality transportation. His commitment to creating solutions that meet the needs of underserved populations—especially in areas like Non-Emergency Medical Transportation (NEMT) and microtransit—has earned him the respect of both industry peers and community members alike.

TTA also noted that Reid is a vocal advocate for policies that support small businesses and independent contractors and will use his position as president to “expand these efforts by working closely with industry leaders, policymakers, and stakeholders to build a transportation system that is not only efficient but also equitable and sustainable for all.”

“We are in a pivotal moment for the transportation industry,” said Reid in the press release. “With the availability of new technologies and service models, my goal is to ensure that every community—large or small—has access to innovative and affordable transportation solutions. I am committed to advocating for fair regulations, fostering innovation, and building partnerships that will enhance the value of our services and improve the quality of life for everyone.”

Reid also remarked on the association’s agenda for the upcoming year: “While we can’t know what additional issues may rise up of the horizon, our priorities for this year will be to continue to drive value to our members through education and thought leadership, preserve the independent contractor model, and with our recently announced task force, work with industry participants and decision-makers to use existing and emerging technology to rid the NEMT industry of the stigma of being ‘ripe for fraud, waste, and abuse.’”

TTA also honored Yuhnke for his service, noting that the challenges that the industry faced during his tenure and the key wins in federal policy and his strategic vision that helped pave the way for the future of the association and transportation at large.

“Bill Yuhnke’s contributions were invaluable to our industry,” Reid remarked. “His leadership helped us stay unified and strong in the face of change. I am eager to build on his legacy as we tackle the challenges ahead and continue pushing for progress.”
