Magruder was hired in 2015 as a dispatch manager for Royal Transportation Group—a position that was meant to be temporary—but company President Cliff Wright quickly realized that he had a capable jack-of-all-trades on his hands. He says that Magruder jumped in feet first to assist with dispatching and the company’s chauffeur training program, and was soon offered a permanent position in affiliate management.
Thanks to her excellent organizational skills, according to Wright, Magruder became Royal’s first groups coordinator and successfully led the company through the rigorous programs, which gave the firm a high status with DMCs. She also continued to be an integral part of planning, and recently took over management of the affiliates division.
“Who would have thought that this tenacious, late-night dispatcher would become our director of operations in just over six months? We are lucky to have Brenda on our team, and she’s perfect for her new role,” said Wright. “She’s highly organized, creative, extremely determined, and has a fantastic attitude. Everybody she encounters just loves her.”
“I am beyond excited to be the new director of operations,” said Magruder. “I was part of the team behind the scenes for years, and I’m proud of the evolution of my position in that short period of time. It’s amazing to be given the opportunity to be in the driver’s seat because I have a lot of ideas and I’m ready to get to work.”
In other news, Fran Allen was also recently promoted to business development manager. In this position, the company will look to Allen to develop strong, long-term relationships and referrals with senior management at targeted firms as well as resorts and affiliates.
