John Nyikos Jr.
It is with profound regret that we announce the passing of John Nyikos Jr., founder of Leros Point to Point, on May 14. He was 79.
John launched Leros Point to Point in 1983 with a single vehicle and a clear conviction: that a service business is, first and last, a people business. Over more than four decades, Leros has grown into an award-winning and well-respected chauffeured transportation company that still functions like a family-run business—the ethos that he held in all parts of his operation. Now operating as Leros Transportation Group, the entity comprises numerous brands across New York, New Jersey, Connecticut, and Pennsylvania, led by his sons, CEO Jeff and CFO Chris (and longtime COO Mike Basso, who is extended family).
After stepping away from the daily grind of the business, John split his time between his Florida and New York homes and was active in both communities.
John is survived by his wife, Patricia Kennedy Nyikos; sons, Jeff and his wife Melissa, and Chris and his wife Amy; and his four cherished grandchildren, Michael, Zachary, Cash, and Lexi.

On Facebook, Jeff Nyikos wrote: “Yesterday I lost my dad, and while my heart is broken, I’m incredibly grateful for everything he gave our family. He taught us the qualities that shaped not only who we are as people, but also how we approach business and life. Of all the lessons he passed down, the two that stand out most are to always stay humble and always be generous. He led by example every single day, treating people with respect, kindness, and integrity no matter who they were. His wisdom, strength, and love will stay with us forever, and we will continue to honor him by living the values he believed in so deeply. We love you and will miss you more than words can say.”
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in memory of John J. Nyikos Jr. to the John J. Nyikos, Jr. Memorial Scholarship supporting Somers (N.Y.) Athletics.
